If you play golf then you’re welcome to become a member of the English Golf Society. You don’t have to play well (though we do ask that you can play to a 36 handicap or better) but you do need to know the rules and etiquette of the game and you need to be able to play a round in about 4 hours without hacking up the course (by most golfing standards a modest requirement). A sense of humour is also quite useful but any golfer who’s hit his first two shots into the bushes off the first tee knows that (and we’ve all done it).
An EGS member can play in all EGS events and competitions at the reduced green fees that are available to us, he or she receives a credit card-type membership card, all results and changes in handicap are recorded by the Handicap Secretary and he or she is eligible to win prizes in all events.
The membership fee is € 50 a year plus a € 60 joining fee for new members. However, new members who are 30 years old and under in the year of joining will have their joining fee permanently waived (although the €50 annual subscription is still to be paid). All income is spent on prizes for the various competitions or on subsidizing the Christmas party.
If you’d like to learn more about the English Golf Society then the easiest way is to join us on Facebook and you’ll be contacted by one of the committee.
Alternatively use the contact page to send us an email.
